CANADIAN ROCKIES HEMP

Industrial Hemp

Canadian Rockies Hemp Corporation (CRHC) is changing the way Canadian agriculture views industrial single-purpose hemp as a viable crop into a prairie farmer’s current crop rotation practices. The great benefits of introducing hemp into a farmer’s practice are found in both the harvested yields of hemp fiber and beneath the ground. By seeding and harvesting a season of single-purpose fiber hemp in a rotation, CRHC is finding significant sequestration of Soil Organic Carbon being left in the ground over the long term.

Below-Ground Sequestration

Decreased Soil Degradation

Short Growing Season

Reduced Fertilizer Use

This procedure CRHC and Carbon Block (through the VERRA crediting scheme) has not been claimed for a project of this nature or scale before. With the support and assessment of field specific experts, this project will open new corridors for which carbon sequestration can reach a level of financial feasibility to proliferate this strategy of emission reduction throughout the Canadian prairies.

To date, the CRHC. has developed this carbon sequestration project within the boundaries of their first facility located in Bruderheim Alberta. CRHC is contracting farmers from all across Alberta to join in on this new market opportunity. With the support of voluntary carbon market financing, CRHC’s look to expand development of additional facilities to open project activities throughout the Canadian prairie provinces. The development of more Soil Organic Carbon sequestration projects is already underway and being submitted to the VERRA Registry to assure future quality carbon offset production for market.

Additional benefits of prairie hemp production are currently being researched to open up new avenues of Carbon crediting revenues for future projects within the Canadian prairies.
