Fuel-Efficient Cookstoves
The Abwenzi Cookstove project is an initiative developed by 180.works, a business working towards environmental conservation and carbon sequestration in Malawi, Africa. This project in partnership with Carbon Block works to aid communities in a variety of sectors by securing financing for the construction of fuel-efficient cooking stoves for up to 1.5 million homes within Malawi.

With a feasible means of production and implementation, these cookstoves have the capacity to offset a 70% reduction in the amount of firewood needed by families to upkeep traditional cooking practices. This 70% reduction not only produces significant decreases in CO2 emissions but contributes to labour reduction, cooking efficiencies and more.
Through active monitoring via Bluetooth devices of the cookstoves, the Abwenzi Cookstove project quantifies emissions from the project’s activities. After attaining this data Carbon Block produces a transparent, accurate, and high-quality offset credit ready for market to aid in the continuation of the projects ambitions goals.
