Carbon Block™ Graduates from CDL 2020

Winnipeg, MB, Canada – May 5, 2020 – Carbon Block™, a SaaS company developing blockchain solutions for the carbon markets, announced their graduation from the 2019/2020 Blockchain stream of the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. “The CDL program is intense and really forced us to accelerate our development. We were challenged at every step, and this led us to some incredible breakthroughs. Carbon Block™ is not the same company as when we started last summer, and we’ve changed for the better,” says Alex Stuart, President & CEO.

After being selected for the program from over 250 applicant companies in September 2019, Carbon Block™ is among 11 ventures in the latest cohort to graduate. “Everyone from the fellows and associates, who offer their mentorship, right through to the CDL team proper is dedicated to our success. The network we’ve been fortunate to build through this process will last a lifetime, and Carbon Block’s future is bright.” says Justin Phillips, VP Marketing & Business Development.

About Carbon Block™

Carbon Block™ uses patent pending technology to automate the environmental audit in order to create high-quality, compliance grade ISO compliant environmental audits. Their first application is to create carbon offsets where the traditional manual environmental audit would be cost prohibitive. Enabling environmental compliance, while connecting investment to decarbonisation activities is a win-win-win for regulators along with buyers and sellers of carbon offsets.

About the Creative Destruction Lab

The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a seed-stage program for massively scalable, science-based companies. The nine-month program employs an objectives-based mentoring process with the goal of maximizing equity-value creation. The CDL is particularly suited to early stage companies with links to university research labs. Launched in 2012 at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the program has now expanded with locations in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, and New York City. Companies that graduated from the Lab’s first five cohorts between 2012 and 2020 have generated more than $2.5 billion (CAD) in aggregate equity value. CDL graduates include Atomwise (San Francisco), Deep Genomics (Toronto), Thalmic Labs (Waterloo), Nymi (Toronto), Automat (Montreal), BenchSci (Toronto), Kyndi (Palo Alto), Kepler (Toronto), and Heuritech (Paris).
